This project aims to raise awareness about the Australian standard AS5216:2021, named “Design of post-intalled and cast-in fastenings in concrete”. AS5216:2021 is the national design guideline for steel-to-concrete connections through mechanical and chemical anchors, and cast-in fastenings. Anchors are a small, yet integral part in construction as they connect structural and non-structural elements to different types of base materials.
Students should be able to go through the complete design process outlined in the Australian Standard AS5216:2021 for different design requirements and should be able to highlight potential reasons and solutions to produce working designs for critical applications.
